Lori Robbins, Physiotherapist

Lori has 10 years’ experience as a physiotherapist working with babies, children, adolescents and their families. She is Dalhousie University-trained and registered with the College of Physiotherapy in Nova Scotia. Early in her physiotherapy career, her rural practice in B.C. focused on all aspects of pediatric physiotherapy, functional family-centred rehabilitation and community care. Since then, she has gained experience in both the acute and community care settings, long-term care, oncology rehabilitation, and neurological rehabilitation. She is also a passionate community educator delivering a full range of workshops on the importance of early relationships, connection and environment in fostering sensory and movement skills.

Lori has a particular interest and post-graduate education in early brain development, pediatric Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT), sensory processing intervention, functional strengthening in children, nurturing touch, meditation and core strengthening through body listening, attachment theory and treatment and attunement. Lori is also a certified infant massage instructor and international trainer (IAIM®/WINC®).

Lori realizes the importance of ongoing treatment and support for children who are experiencing difficulties with motor skills. She is flexible and highly creative in developing a plan of care that makes therapy fun and effective through play. Treatment schedules depend entirely upon the needs of the child and family. Sessions focus on increasing function, independence, confidence and participation in activities. She is proud to offer physiotherapy services that work for families by working with children at home, at the playground, in the pool, at the rink, in preschool…whatever works best!

Lori uses a team-oriented and family-centered approach to help children and families reach their full potential. This includes building capacity within each family to be key providers as well as allowing changes to occur as children grow and become increasingly involved in the therapy process.

In her younger days, Lori could be found traveling the world. Today, she continues to embrace that spirit of adventure in raising her young family in Halifax!
